Roblox Expands In-Game Payment Options with XRP Integration

XRP continues to demonstrate high performance in global payments despite Ripple’s entanglement in a vicious legal battle with the U.S. securities watchdog.

In a big move that echoes the growing acceptance of cryptocurrencies as a payment method in gaming, Roblox has integrated XRP to power in-game purchases, according to an announcement made by BitPay on October 17.

Supercharging Gaming with XRP Payments

Roblox’s XRP integration is powered by the Xsolla-BitPay collaboration, which dates back to almost a decade ago when Xsolla introduced the support of Bitcoin payments via BitPay.

Per the announcement, Xsolla has connected BitPay’s crypto payment processing system with its Pay Station platform to enable a smooth connection between user crypto wallets and gaming platforms. With the integration, users can leverage XRP for in-game purchases across Roblox and Smitegame, among other game options.

Roblox’s move to integrate XRP as a payment option will enable over 200 million monthly active users to fund in-game purchases seamlessly across multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Xbox, and PlayStation.

Paving the Way for Mass Crypto Adoption

With about 66.1 million daily active users on its platform, 44% of whom are below 13 years old, Roblox is poised to supercharge the race of mass crypto adoption among Generation Z, also known as the iGeneration.

As one of the world’s leading online gaming hubs, where users spend up to $773 million on in-game purchases in a single quarter, Roblox’s move could influence wider acceptance and adoption of crypto payments across the gaming industry.

For Xsolla, the XRP integration is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to introduce crypto as a fast, secure, and viable payment option in gaming. The company’s drive to achieve this can also be seen in other collaborations, including partnerships with Crypto.com and Coinchange Financial to support token and NFT-powered transactions.
