SHIB and DOGE Meme Couch to Be Auctioned as Physical NFT

The art-loving NFT cartel presents the opportunity to own a piece of DOGE’s history.

The iconic sofa of Kabosu, the Japanese guard dog who inspired the two popular memecoins Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE), will be sold in a live auction on February 7th, 2023. The event is hosted by PleasrHouse, the auction arthouse related to PleasrDAO, also known as “the art collecting empire” in the NFT space. The 24-hour auction period will be followed by a live AMA with Kabosu Mama – the owner of the inspirational internet dog.

Winner Gets OG DOGE Couch

For this cause, a charity movement called Own The Doge was started. According to member Tridog, the idea came to mind after the legendary dog Kabosu became gravely ill at the end of 2022. Despite the 17-year-old developing cancer, a gathering of friends in the DOGE community helped Kabosu improve. Gladly, the always-happy-looking dog is back to going for walks and eating normally.

The auction winner gets to mint an NFT of the DOGE Couch, which also serves as proof that you own the actual couch in the celebrated meme. One lucky member of the DOGE Army will have the right to claim the cozy yellow couch from Kabosu’s owner Atsuko Sato. Still, the meme is immortalized in the Own The DOGE fractionalized NFT collection.

DOGE on All Fours Amid the News

Dogecoin, the 9th cryptocurrency by global market cap, went through a price correction cycle after a solid weekly bull run. However, the canine coin failed to sustain the fundamental resistance line of $0.10, despite growing its market capitalization from $9.965bn a month ago to $12.758bn today.

At press time, Kabosu-themed Musk’s Best Friend DOGE is changing hands at $0.09222, according to CoinGecko. Despite dropping 3.5% in value in the last 24 hours, DOGE is still 27.3% in the green monthly. Recently, the popular memecurrency gained much traction after Elon Musk announced that Twitter Payments would include crypto, and the DOGE community counts on the Chief Twit’s preference for DOGE.

On the Flipside

  • PleasrDAO is inspired by the famous digital artist ‘pplpleasr.’ On launch, PleasrDAO dropped an Edward Snowden-inspired NFT collection. As the story goes, the computer scientist turned spy revealed sensitive National Security Agency (NSA) documents in 2013 and fled to Russia, eventually gaining citizenship in 2022.
