- SHIB Token developers aim to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3.
- In mutual efforts with D3 Global, SHIB is tapping into the traditional internet.
- SHIB holders can pre-register their desired names before launch.
The developers behind Shiba Inu (SHIB) recently unfolded their master plan for the Shiba Inu Ecosystem in 2024. According to a thread on X, SHIB Token is switching focus to digital identity via .SHIB top-level domain names. This would enable SHIB enthusiasts to use the same customizable domain name across email clients, online stores, and Web3 dApps.
SHIBDentity, in collaboration with the Web3 startup D3 Global, is set to bring a memorizable .SHIB domain name for every member of the SHIB Army. In Shiba Inuโs 2024 vision, this serves as a universal key to open doors across both the traditional internet and Web3.
Hereโs How Shiba Inu Plans to Invade the Internet
Shiba Inuโs decentralization quest was declared in October 2023 when SHIB released the Shiba Name Service (SNS) on Shibarium L2. Shiba Inuโs native Layer-2 blockchain technology stores the credentials on-chain, making it easy for internet surfers to authenticate in Web3 apps without exposing their information to large corporate-owned databases.

โFutureproofing your identity is our top priority,โ reads SHIB Tokenโs official message on X regarding SHIBโs attempt to register with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) for a DNS-compatible .SHIB top-level domain (TLD). While the demanding application process highly depends on the size of the community, there are other important factors to consider.
Shibariumโs lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, previously introduced the โNetwork Stateโ plan, which also encompasses a super app for the vibrant community of SHIB, now counting nearly 4 million followers on SHIB Tokenโs official X handle. Known as The HUB, the super application is set to be the gateway to all dApps on Shibarium L2, while SHIBDentity serves as the access key.
On the Flipside
- .SHIB top-level domains (TLDs) would make SHIB Army the only crypto community with a DNS-compatible name, but the approval also heavily depends on technicalities.
- While the Ethereum community also uses their native suffix .ETH, Ether would have a hard time applying with ICANN, as ETH also serves as the country code for Ethiopia.
Why This Matters
Tapping into the traditional internet infrastructure has the potential to spread crypto awareness to 6 billion users of Web2 while also providing SHIB holders with a convenient way to identify themselves online.
