Bedford Independent reported on July 1 that Gemini has signed a five-year sponsorship with Real Bedford FC, about two months after the exchangeโ€™s founders, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, invested $4.5 million in Bitcoin into the club.

The contract marks one of the longest multi-year shirt sponsor deals outside of the UKโ€™s professional game and seeks to support Real Bedfordโ€™s continued success and boost opportunities for underprivileged children in the local community.

Per the report, the sponsorship money will be paid upfront and entirely in Bitcoin.

โ€œThrough our investment, Real Bedfordโ€™s balance sheet will be fortified with digital assets, giving them advantages on and off the pitch. We canโ€™t wait to see what the club achieves in the coming years,โ€ Geminiโ€™s COO, Marshall Beard, stated.

Geminiโ€™s business relationship with Real Bedford FC began in 2022, shortly after McCormack completed the clubโ€™s acquisition on the back of various business ventures linked to Bitcoin.

Since McCormack took the reins, Real Bedford FC has fully integrated Bitcoin into its infrastructure, allowing players to receive payments in BTC and fans to purchase tickets and merchandise using the crypto asset.

Bitcoin exchanged hands at $62,885 at press time after gaining 2.27% in the last 24 hours, CoinMarketCap data shows.
