- WazirX customers have demanded that their funds be released for withdrawals.
- The exchange had promised to resolve the matter in an earlier post on X.
- The development comes nearly a month after WazirX lost $230 million to a hack.
Hacked crypto exchange WazirX has found itself on the receiving end of online outrage from disappointed customers, who have faulted the trading platform for failing to restore withdrawals.
The backlash stems from a recent X (Twitter) post by WazirX, urging users to exercise patience as it sought the โbest solutionsโ for restoring Indian rupee (INR) and crypto balances. These funds were not stolen during the July 18 hack, which claimed $230 million in assorted cryptos.
WazirX Customers Run Out of Patience
In the post, WazirX said it was conducting legal analysis and awaiting โpositive confirmationsโ from industry partners who could help the exchange resolve its withdrawal issue. While the exchange claimed it understood the โangerโ around the situation and begged for another round of patience, the assurance didnโt inspire confidence among users.

This could partly be because it has been almost a month since WazirX was hacked and the updates issued by the exchange since then have only left users more frustrated and anxious.
โI am sure these processes don't take up to 1 month and still no clarification on when we users will get funds back,โ one user wrote in response to WazirXโs post.
Another user said that the WazirX crisis was more than a technical or financial issue, claiming it also took an emotional and psychological toll on users.
โFor many users, the funds trapped on WazirX represent years of savings or critical investments. The fear of losing this money has caused immense stress. Stories are emerging of people experiencing sleepless nights, constantly worrying about whether theyโll ever see their money again.โ The user wrote.
Contributing to the rage, another user blasted WazirX for โresorting to daily postsโ instead of taking responsibility for the hack.
โEnough with the empty words. Provide a tentative date for reopening the platform and start the withdrawals ASAP. Itโs been 30 days of just talkโitโs time for action!โ The user demanded.
WazirX has yet to issue another update on the matter.
