More than 3 million people locked out of their bank accounts overnight: that is the claim driving a video by Edo Farina, a popular researcher covering banks and crypto. He alleges that Paraguay’s central bank took control of digital bank Ueno, using the purported disruption to argue for XRP and self-custody.
A functioning ledger does not guarantee a rising token
Edo Farina’s central comparison is between allegedly inaccessible bank deposits and the XRP Ledger continuing to process transactions. “The XRP Ledger kept settling transactions every few seconds like any other day,” he says.

That distinction concerns network availability, not investment performance. In the same video, he puts XRP near $1.25, down roughly 5%, and bitcoin below $77,000, also falling nearly 5%. These are figures quoted during the recording, not current market prices.
He identifies $1.60 as XRP’s key resistance level and says he would not call a reversal before it is reclaimed.
His broader argument that banking failures will increase demand for XRP as a settlement asset is a forecast; continued ledger operation alone does not demonstrate increased adoption or demand.
Self-custody reduces one risk, not every risk
The YouTube video’s practical emphasis is on spreading exposure across banks, keeping emergency cash and holding cryptocurrency keys outside exchanges. Exchange-held assets can become inaccessible through platform restrictions, insolvency proceedings or legal action.
But Edo overstates the protection when he says nobody can seize XRP held with personal keys. Native XRP has no issuer clawback mechanism; the ledger does support clawback for certain issued tokens. Neither distinction makes an owner immune to legal orders, stolen keys or compelled transfers.
His claim that physical property cannot be confiscated is similarly too broad. Gold and real estate remain subject to seizure under applicable law.
Holding keys removes reliance on an exchange to authorize transfers, but it does not protect XRP’s market value or make an unverified banking story evidence of its future demand.
