Millions of Americans receiving Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits face an adjusted payment schedule this November. Due to a federal holiday and calendar shifts, several payment groups will receive their deposits earlier than expected.

Crucially, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will not receive a payment in November, as their monthly distribution was issued on Friday, October 30.

Social Security November Payment Schedule by Birthday

The Social Security Administration (SSA) distributes regular monthly benefits across four specific dates in November:

Payment DateEligible Beneficiary GroupKey Detail / Adjustment
November 3Pre-May 1997 claimants & dual Social Security/SSI recipientsStandard early-month schedule
November 10Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th1 day early (Veterans Day on Nov. 11)
November 18Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20thStandard 3rd Wednesday deposit
November 25Beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31stStandard 4th Wednesday deposit

Why Some November Social Security Payments Are Arriving Early

The primary schedule shift in November involves Veterans Day, observed on Wednesday, November 11.

Because federal offices and banking institutions close for federal holidays, beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th—who normally receive funds on the second Wednesday of the month—will have their direct deposits issued one day early on Tuesday, November 10.

All subsequent birthday groups (Nov. 18 and Nov. 25) will receive payments on their regular Wednesday schedule.

Federal law mandates electronic payment via direct deposit or the Direct Express Debit Mastercard. Most deposits post by 9:00 a.m. local time on the payment date. If an expected check is missing, beneficiaries are advised to contact their financial institution before calling the SSA helpline.

Upcoming 2027 COLA Increase: What to Expect

November’s payment schedule is not the only development beneficiaries should watch.

In addition to November payment updates, the SSA has finalized a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2027.

The 3.6% adjustment raises average monthly retirement checks by approximately $75 per month starting in January 2027. SSI recipients will receive their updated January 2027 payment early on December 31, 2026, as January 1 is a federal holiday.

Beneficiaries with personal my Social Security accounts will also be able to access their personalized COLA notices online starting in late November. Paper notices are expected to arrive in December.

Why This Matters

Social Security and SSI payments are a steady source of cash flow for millions of Americans. Knowing the exact dates helps recipients plan spending, including any money they allocate to investments.
