Madonna Releases Nude NFT Series with Beeple

Pop icon Madonna released her own NFT series on Monday. The tokenized digital triptych, titled “Mother of Creation”, comes as the result of a collaboration with digital artist Beeple, and will be auctioned for charity on Wednesday, May 11th.

“Mother of Creation”, as a triptych, contains three different NFT artworks that each represent a different form of birth in the contemporary world, explains the official website. The NFTs named “Mother of Nature”, “Mother of Evolution” and “Mother of Technology” depict a naked 3D Madonna giving birth to flora, fauna, and also technology.

“I’m doing what women have been doing since the beginning of time, which is giving birth. But on a more existential level, I’m giving birth to art, and creativity. And we would be lost without both”, Madonna shared in her video.

All three NFT series wish to impart an important message: you never know where you will find life, and you can never give up hope.

Through the “Mother of Creation” artwork, Madonna has officially taken her first steps into a new virtual world, together with the highly experienced Mike Winkelmann, perhaps better known as ‘Beeple’. The prominent digital artist made history a year ago after selling his NFT artwork “Everydays – The First 5000 Days” at Christie’s for $69 million. 

“I don’t do many collaborations. This is probably the only one I will do for a very long time” Beeple told the New York Times. He later tweeted that he was “insanely honored” to have worked with Madonna. 

Released on Monday, Madonna’s NFTs will be auctioned through the SuperRare NFT marketplace on Wednesday, May 11th. As stated on the project’s website, all proceeds from the NFT sales will be donated to three nonprofit organizations that support mothers across the globe.
