  • SBF is having concentration problems in court.
  • His lawyers have asked for access to a prescribed stimulant.
  • This is the second petition requesting SBF be given greater access to the drug.

Embattled FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) might be having concentration problems in court, according to a recent court letter by his legal team.

On October 15, SBF’s lawyers wrote to Judge Lewis Kaplan of the New York District Court. They requested that their client be allowed to take a prescribed stimulant before he is transported to Monday’s October 16 trial.

SBF Needs 12-hour Extended-Release Adderall

In the letter, the lawyers submitted that Bankman-Fried has been “doing his best to remain focused during the trial” but hasn’t been able to concentrate at the “level he ordinarily would” since he had no access to his prescribed dose of Adderall.

Specifically, the lawyers asked that SBF be given a 12-hour extended-release 20mg dose of the stimulant in the morning of the Monday trial, arguing that the stimulant would help the fallen crypto mogul to participate meaningfully in his defense.

Letter, the lawyers submitted about Sam Bankman-Fried.

While the lawyers were hopeful that the modification would resolve the situation, they expressed their reservations about whether the extended-release dose would be effective for SBF.

“Accordingly, if the cU1Tent proposal does not work, either because the extended-release dose is not provided or it fails to have the desired effect, we respectfully request that trial be adjourned for one day on Tuesday, October 17, to find a solution that will work for the remainder of trial,” the letter read.

This is not the first time SBF’s attorneys have petitioned for greater access to Adderall.

Second Petition for More Access to Adderall

On August 14, SBF’s legal team asked Judge Kaplan to grant an order directing the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, to provide their client with “uninterrupted access to his daily prescribed medications” while in detention.

In the letter, the lawyers noted that Bankman-Fried has active prescriptions for Emsam 9mg/24 hrs transdermal patch for the treatment of depression and Adderall 10mg tablets, 3-4x/day for the treatment of ADHD.
