Tron founder Justin Sun announced today plans to roll out a solution that will allow users to transfer stablecoins “without paying any gas tokens.”
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency whose value is pegged or tied to that of another digital asset, commodity, or financial instrument. The Blockchain Council notes that there are almost 200 stablecoins distributed globally, including Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC.
A New Solution for Stablecoin Transfers
According to Justin Sun’s X post on July 6, the development team anticipates launching the new solution in Q4 this year.

“Our team is developing a new solution that enables gas-free stablecoin transfers. In other words, transfers can be made without paying any gas tokens, with the fees being entirely covered by the stablecoins themselves.” Sun wrote.
Sun said the solution will be first implemented on the Tron blockchain, the second-largest network by total value locked (TVL) ahead of Ethereum, before supporting Ethereum and all EVM-compatible public chains. Tron’s TVL stood at $7.4 billion against Ethereum’s $52.9 billion at the time of writing, DefiLlama data shows.
The Tron founder further noted that the proliferation of the said technology across multiple networks would “greatly facilitate” large companies’ deployment of stablecoins and elevate blockchain mass adoption to a “new level.”
“My prediction: Tron will become the first blockchain in the world to surpass one billion addresses,” Sun claimed in a separate post.
The “gas-free” stablecoin solution is among the several innovations Sun and the bigger Tron ecosystem are working on. In February, Tron unveiled its Bitcoin layer 2 solution roadmap as it sought to branch out to Ordinals.
