Japanese Gaming Giant Square Enix Partners with The Sandbox to Bring Dungeon Siege to the Metaverse

Dungeon Siege, one of Square Enix’s RPG series, will receive own land in the metaverse and bring game’s licensed content.

Despite the reasonably neutral feedback from Gabe Newell and Sid Meier about NFTs regarding future of gaming, some companies have chosen to take the “full speed ahead” approach to blockchain. Ubisoft was one such pioneer, even trying to implement NFTs into one of their AAA games.

For its part, Square Enix has not been quite as fervent, but has still made its intentions known. The company first expressed its interest in the technology back in autumn. Following this, the producer of Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida also claimed that he found NFTs interesting. Judging by the company’s latest latest remarks, it seems like the beloved developer has no plans to touch its current IPs such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.

Recently, the company partnered with one of the biggest crypto metaverses, ‘The Sandbox‘. It seems the metaverse platform can do no wrong in forming partnerships, obtaining big collaborations as simply as shooting fish in a barrel, having partnered with Ubisoft, Warner Music, and Cube Entertainment.

Dungeon Siege, an RPG series by Square Enix, is set to receive its own land in the metaverse and will bring the game’s licenced content to The Sandbox. In the official blog post they claimed that the move would bring “interactive RPG experiences players can enjoy while learning best practices for constructing Dungeon Siege adventures.”

Square Enix, released the following statement on the partnership:
