  • Bitcoin recently dazzled on one of the worldโ€™s grandest stages.
  • The debut beat a memecoin to the punch.
  • Dogwifhatโ€™s Vegas vision is still up in the air.

Bitcoin, the worldโ€™s largest crypto asset, has continuously grown in popularity and importance over the years. This ascent has led to high-profile endorsements and increased visibility, securing its place across the financial world and public consciousness.

In another milestone, Bitcoinโ€™s rising influence landed it on one of the biggest stages imaginable.

Crypto King Bitcoin Debuts on Vegas Sphere

โ€œThe bigger the stage, the bigger the star.โ€ This saying rang true on Tuesday, July 23, when Bitcoin made a grand debut on the dazzling display and vibrant lights of the Las Vegas Sphere.ย

The Bitcoin Vegas Sphere Showcase was part of the crypto exchange Crypto.comโ€™s eighth-anniversary celebration. It featured a rotating display of the BTC logo on a flashy gold background that broke into tiny coins across the sphere-shaped LED screen.

Crypto.comโ€™s approach has received praise from community members and industry figures alike. The move is celebrated as an impressive tactic that increases the crypto giant’s visibility.

However, amid the celebration, Bitcoinโ€™s debut on the Vegas Sphere has shifted the spotlight to a Solana-based memecoin, which had the same ambition earlier this year.

Dogwifhat on Vegas Sphere: A Pipe Dream?

In March 2024, Dogwifhat took the crypto industry by storm, quickly gaining popularity following an unprecedented tear that saw the token smash several milestones.

The tokenโ€™s eager supporters set an audacious dream, vowing to put the pink-beanie-wearing mascot on the Vegas Sphere. This was followed by a subsequent launch of a donation fund, inviting the memecoinโ€™s community to contribute the $650,000 required to fuel the vision.ย

Four months and nearly $700,000 in donations later, the memecoin is still missing from the Vegas Sphere. Some members of the WIF community are beginning to wonder where their dreams and dollars have gone, with one even asserting that the funds might have been “stolen.”

On the Flipside

  • Bitcoinโ€™s appearance on the Vegas Sphere could benefit the Dogwifhat community by paving the way for other crypto projects.
  • In March 2024, the original Dogwifhat photo sold for $4.3M in an NFT auction.
  • The showcase has not significantly impacted Bitcoinโ€™s price. BTC traded for $66,449 at press time, up less than 1% in the last 24 hours.

Why This Matters

The showcase of Bitcoin on the Las Vegas Sphere highlights Bitcoinโ€™s dominance as a crypto and financial world giant. It also places BTC in yet another major spotlight, potentially boosting its popularity and enhancing the broader industry’s visibility.
