  • The original Dogwifhat photo has been sold following a three-day auction.
  • WIF has recorded an uptick in price within the last 24 hours.
  • Dogwifghat has remained one of the top gainers of the bullish crypto market trend.

Over the past weeks, the crypto market experienced a significant rally, giving rise to impressive gains for Bitcoin(BTC) and several other assets, including meme coins. One notable gainer was dogwifhat (WIF), which outpaced its canine peers with a remarkable 652% surge in a 30-day rally and an overall 1653% increase in less than a year of launch.

The meteoric growth has spurred a flurry of activities around the Solana-based memecoin, including a recent multi-million dollar NFT sale.

Dogwifhat Photo Sale

On Monday, March 18, the NFT-based photo of the viral dog behind the dogwifhat memecoin, Achi, landed a 1,210.8 Ethereum auction sale, valued at approximately $4.3 million at press time.

Secured by crypto trader Gigantic Rebirth Ventures, the sale follows the listing of the pink-beanie-wearing mascot’s picture on NFT marketplace Foundation on Friday, March 15, 2024, at an initial auction price of 0.15 ETF. The listing included a precise description that read, “The photo of Achi wearing a small hat instantly took the internet by storm, and now it has captured the hearts of people around the globe as a meme called $wif.”

In response to the news, WIF recorded an approximate 10% surge. Currently trading at $3.0, this brings the canine-themed menemcoin’s total gains in the last 24 hours to 26.3%.

The $4.3 million dogwifhat photo sale follows the mega frenzy that saw the memecoin’s supporters set up a fundraiser to put the community’s pink hat-wearing mascot on the world’s largest display sphere.

Dogwifhat, and a Vegas Dream

On March 11, 2024, social media platform X user X Ansen initiated the plan to display the dogwifhat photo on the Las Vegas Sphere, inviting the memecoin’s community of supporters to contribute $650,000.

The community has raised over $696,000 in USD Coin (USDC), edging the audacious ‘WIF on sphere’ dream closer to realization.

While many criticized the move as potentially serving as a bull market “top signal,” the dogwifhat community members assert excitement for the pink-hatted mascot to go live on the unique 1.2 million LED-based structure.

WIF’s impressive surge has positioned the token among the top-performing meme coins of the year, currently sitting at 44th place in the TOP 50 by global market cap.
