The popular DeGods NFT collection may be set to make a shock homecoming.

In 2022, DeGods shot into the limelight on Solana, becoming the most prominent and arguably the most successful NFT collection on the network. In Q1 2023, however, while Solana reeled from the knock-on effects of FTX’s collapse in light of their strong ties to the exchange’s founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, DeGods decided to migrate to Ethereum supposedly to explore new opportunities.

Barely a year after DeGods’ Ethereum move, the project’s creator and DeLabs’ co-founder Rohun “Frank” Vora has now hinted at a potential move back to Solana.

DeGods To Make a Shock Solana Return?

In an X post on Monday, April 22, Frank shared a picture showing that developers were testing the bridging of NFTs to Solana.

While the details of the potential Solana move remain unclear, Frank’s tweet has not failed to draw significant attention and reactions within the crypto space.

Fair-Weather Friends?

While some have expressed excitement at a potential DeGods return, others have poked holes at the project’s seeming lack of direction.

At the same time, others have likened Frank and, by extension, the DeGods’ project to fair-weather friends that only come around when the going is good and leave when the going gets tough.

DeGods’ potential Solana move comes as the network has experienced a resurgence, with the price of its native asset SOL surging by over 500% since the NFT collection migrated to Ethereum. As recently highlighted by “Crypto Rand,” Solana processed over 1.2 million NFT transactions over the past week, the highest of any blockchain.

On the Flipside

  • Details of the potential DeGods return are still unclear.
  • In Q4 2023, DeLabs migrated the DeGods sister project, y00ts, from Polygon to Ethereum to unite the NFT communities.

Why This Matters

At its peak, DeGods was the most successful NFT collection on Solana. While some are excited by the prospect of a potential return, the frequent migrations of the project raise questions about its direction and leadership.
