Ripple Mint Puts RLUSD At The Center Of Institutional Operations

Ripple has teamed up with Cross River Bank to integrate its RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger directly into the bank’s proprietary Core Operating System.

The move, announced on October 15, positions RLUSD as a native payment rail alongside traditional options like ACH, wire transfers, and real-time payments.

Fintech partners of Cross River will now be able to access XRP native stablecoin RLUSD through a single API connection without needing to build or maintain separate blockchain infrastructure.

Ripple’s Solution For Around-The-Clock Settlement

Customers can move seamlessly between U.S. dollars and RLUSD, settle cross-border payments and treasury transfers around the clock, and take advantage of the XRP Ledger’s near-instant settlement—typically 3 to 5 seconds at a fraction of a cent.

The partnership aims to give issuers and acquirers greater flexibility for intraday settlement while reducing latency in payment networks.

Cross River’s Head of Fintech Banking, Adam Goller, highlighted that businesses should not have to juggle multiple providers to move money globally, noting the integration expands existing stablecoin capabilities already under development at the bank.

RLUSD, which launched in late 2024 under a New York trust company charter, has grown past $2.5 billion in market capitalization, with more than $1 billion issued on the XRP Ledger.

The stablecoin is purpose-built for institutional use and operates 24/7, free from traditional banking hours.

Markus Infanger, Senior Vice President of RippleX at Ripple, described the collaboration as a step toward making stablecoins a standard part of the banking infrastructure fintechs already rely on.

Why This Matters

By combining regulated banking rails with the speed and efficiency of the XRP Ledger, the partnership simplifies real-time, cross-border money movement for businesses and their customers.

The service is currently available in a limited number of U.S. states as Cross River and Ripple continue expanding access. This XRP chain integration marks another concrete step in bringing institutional-grade stablecoin payments deeper into everyday banking operations.
