Sun Loses Diplomatic Immunity After Change of Power in Country

On Mar 22, 2023, US authorities charged Sun with securities fraud, together with eight celebrities that promoted his tokens. Following news of the charges, local reports from Grenada suggest that Sun lost his immunity after the June 23 elections. Sun reportedly had close relations with the former administration, which has since lost power.

The previous administration made Sun the country’s ambassador to the WTO. Reports say the government expected Sun to promote trade, investment, and development in the small Caribbean nation with a population of 124,000.

These reports confirm earlier claims by Chinese dissidents on Twitter, indicating that Sun lost his diplomatic passport. These reports also suggest that Granda’s issues with corruption could be how Sun obtained his position.

Sun denied the reports that he was stripped of his lofty title. As proof, he provided screenshots of the WTO’s official website, which still lists him as the Ambassador of Granada to the organization.
