While most traditional game publishers have been reluctant to integrate Web3 and blockchain technology over monetization concerns, Ubisoft, the publisher of popular titles like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Prince of Persia, continues to be viewed as a pariah.
From being the first major publisher to bring NFTs to its games to supporting Web3 gaming hackathons, Ubisoft has remained steadfast in its belief in Web3’s potential to change its industry. The gaming studio may be embarking on its most Web3-aligned initiative yet with its planned Captain Laserhawk game. The publisher has revealed NFT plans for the title in collaboration with Magic Eden and the Arbitrum Foundation, which promises to revolutionize user control and ownership in gaming.

At the same time, NFT holders can influence future game updates, contribute to it with their own content, and unlock exclusive rewards through access to the game’s governance model, content generation features, and reward systems.
The NFT metadata will also evolve with the growth and achievements of players in the game, unlocking new perks and levels of governance influence.
What You Need To Know About the Captain Laserhawk Game
Captain Laserhawk: the G.A.M.E is a fast-paced top-down multiplayer shooter inspired by Ubisoft’s Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. The series brings together renowned characters from Ubisoft game series like Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry in a dystopian society called Eden, which replaced a collapsed United States.
The game sees players take on the role of citizens in this dystopian society, and their decisions help shape the world around them. To survive, they are forced to employ quick strategic thinking as they compete in death matches and work to complete objective-based missions.
On the Flipside
- It is unclear when the NFTs will be available for mint and when the game will launch.
