  • HashKey Capital made a big announcement on Thursday.
  • The crypto asset manager received a notable licensing upgrade.
  • The upgrade will potentially expand the company’s market share and influence in Hong Kong.

Crypto asset manager HashKey Capital will likely begin to manage virtual asset investment products offered to Hong Kong-based retail investors following an upgrade to its licensing conditions, the company said on Thursday.

Founded in 2015, HashKey Capital invests exclusively in blockchain technology and digital assets and currently has over $1 billion in assets under management (AUM) across its three flagship funds.

HashKey Secures “Notable” Licensing Upgrade

According to an announcement dated April 11, Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has waived HashKey Capital Limited’s ‘professional investors only’ licensing condition, allowing the company to potentially manage crypto funds offered to retail investors.

However, the company cautioned that such offerings will be “subject to securing the requisite product authorizations from the SFC.”

HashKey Capital CEO Deng Chao lauded the win, noting that the licensing upgrade was a testament to the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance and investor protection.

“This development not only demonstrates our leadership in the industry but also opens up exciting opportunities for retail investors to access our fund products and participate in the growing digital asset market through a trusted and regulated platform,” Chao stated.

Besides fostering crypto adoption, the upgrade is expected to catalyze HashKey Capital’s expansion by potentially opening up new markets and opportunities, allowing the company to target a broader investor base and expand its influence in the crypto sector.

Today’s development comes after HashKey Capital announced a strategic partnership with Bosera International on April 9 to drive crypto innovation and adoption. Along with the license upgrade, the collaboration could see the asset manager expand its product offerings to include spot ETFs.
