Crypto custody company Copper has appointed Amar Kuchinad, a former Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, as its new global Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Kuchinad launched his career at Credit Suisse before heading Goldman Sachโ€™s U.S. Portfolio Credit Trading and serving as a senior policy advisor to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He founded Electronifie in 2014 to improve bond trading through systemic and digital innovation.

Kuchinad took over from Copperโ€™s founder, Dmitry Tokarev, who stepped back from his role as CEO after seven years of what the company termed visionary leadership.

Copperโ€™s Chairman, Lord Hammond, welcomed Kuchinad to his new role, noting that he would complement Dmitryโ€™s success at the company.

โ€œHis skill sets and experience provide the perfect complement to Dmitryโ€™s technical strengths as we deploy our industry-leading technology to support global financial institutions to trade and safeguard digital assets of all kinds.โ€

Hammond clarified that Dmitry would remain closely involved with Copperโ€™s future as its Boardโ€™s Founder Director and a strategic shareholder.
