Five days after implementing the much anticipated Vasil hard fork, Input Output Global (IOG) has announced that all of upgrade’s promised features and improvements are now live on the Cardano blockchain.

New Improvements Go Live on Cardano

On September 22nd, IOG and the Cardano Foundation triggered the hard fork combinator event, deploying Vasil at the protocol level. Now, five days after the upgrade, new improvements have gone live on the chain.

According to IOG, support for reference inputs, inline datums, reference scripts, collateral outputs, and a new Plutus cost model (Plutus 2), are now available for use by developers on the mainnet.

A New Era for Cardano

With Plutus V2 and the Cardano Improvement Proposal (CIP) 31-33 now active on the mainnet, developers are free to build and launch their projects on the mainnet.

The new Plutus cost model is expected to make decentralized applications (dApps) more efficient, and cheaper to run, which could lead to increased development on the Cardano ecosystem.
