  • A local lawmaker confirmed the news.
  • The dates for the event have been set.

Hong Kong will host The Bitcoin Conference in a few months, a local lawmaker said in a Twitter (X) post on Monday.

The “world’s largest fintech conference” brings together crypto industry leaders, experts, policymakers, and activists to network, learn, and explore Bitcoin offerings. One of the key themes in this year’s conference will be regulatory frameworks.

The Bitcoin Conference Coming to Hong Kong

On January 22, Johnny Ng Kit-chong, a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, shared a post on X, confirming that the country will host The Bitcoin Conference this year.

“The Bitcoin conference, the world’s largest fintech conference, is coming to Hong Kong. Let’s paint the city orange!,” the lawmaker wrote.

Shortly after the lawmaker’s update, the official X page for The Bitcoin Conference shared an announcement confirming the dates for the event.

As the event host, Hong Kong is positioning itself to evolve in tandem with the digital currency revolution. This stance compliments the country’s longstanding reputation as an Asian fintech hub.

Today’s announcement follows calls by Ng for Hong Kong to “promote the implementation of spot Bitcoin ETFs as soon as possible” and become a “leader” in the field of virtual assets.

Ng raised the sentiments in a January 11 post, shortly after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs at once.
