Donald Trumpโ€™s signature TRUMP coin has been on a mad roller coaster ever since the Inauguration Day launch. Securing the all-time peak of $73.50 on January 19, 2025, the PolitiFi meme coinโ€™s way forward was marked with drastic downturns, punching Trump coin (TRUMP) back to single digits.

However, the drawdown has ended when Donald Trump surprisingly announced a VIP dinner for his signature meme coin fans in Washington, DC. Set for May 22, 2025, the dinner party extends the invitation to 220 largest TRUMP coin holders worldwide. Prominent crypto figures, including Tronโ€™s founder Justin Sun, are expected to be seated in the event.

Are Trump Coin Whales Swimming Away?

In spite of the inclusivity, multiple Trump coin whales decided to sell their assets ahead of this event. As detected by crypto intelligence platform LookOnChain, two memecoin whales sold a cumulative $6.4 million at a loss today. Namely, one whale incurred a $454K deficit when they bid adieu to 276,968 TRUMP coins for the price of $3.54 million.

The other crypto whale sits at a $42K deficit after getting rid of 228,414 TRUMP coins at the price of $2.92 million. Besides, this resembles a recurring trend among other large TRUMP coin holders, as the Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) flashes way below zero since May 10, 2025.

Certainly, some of the large meme coin holders might be concerned about the tight meme coin unlock schedule for the coming two years, but thatโ€™s far from it. According to sources familiar with the matter, Trumpโ€™s direct engagement in crypto could be putting hurdles in stablecoin legislation bills currently in the works by the United States Congress.

On The Flipside

  • The United States President is facing a plausible impeachment call, as well as an ethics probe over the private memecoin-related dinner.
  • Another official White House meme coin might be on the way, according to the tongues wagging on the presidentโ€™s own Truth Social.

Why This Matters

Amidst the surrounding controversy, Donald Trumpโ€™s pro-crypto stance has both energized the crypto industry & imposed new hurdles on the way to a full-fledged blockchain adoption.
