The embattled Terra Classic community has penned a signaling proposal inviting the Six Samurai engineering team to return to Terra’s chain. The proposal’s author, Pholuna, also mentioned that Terra Classic community members contacted Solid Snake, a co-lead of the Six Samurai team, to orchestrate the possible return to the chain.

Pholuna blamed the Layer-1 Joint Task Force (L1JTF) for gridlocking around $700,000 on Astroport. The neutral marketplace on the Terra Classic network is a significant source of liquidity on-chain. However, Pholuna claims, “Astroport Classic remains broken with no repair in sight.”

These prominent members have co-signed the proposal: Pholuna, Ecop, Utexvg, Rabbi, Jook Knights, Danny Demi Defi (Commander 3D), Bullboss validator, and Oneiric Stake validator. Meanwhile, all Terra community members are voting on the proposal live on Terra Station. However, the aim of proposal #11788 has the struggling community members split into two camps.

Can the Six Samurai Team Save the Day?

Notably, proposal #11788 presents the roster of the LUNC Samurai Team, which involves six senior software engineers: Bilbo Baggins, Solid Snake, NotJoshC, Mycetism, ChopstickSensei, and MangoChutney. While the signaling proposal fires multiple shots at the Layer-1 Joint Task Force, the initiative doesn’t necessarily aim to fire the current L1 developer team.

Several large validators on the chain have been called out for voting ‘NO’ on the Six Samurai proposal. While the difference in opinion is understandable, several Terra Classic members tagged popular YouTuber Happy Catty Crypto & Terra validator JESUSisLORD, asking for an explanation for the downvote.

“The chain is falling apart, people are leaving, $LUNC is dumping.. And you two are blocking devs who want to contribute for free,” – utters Jebediah Shekelstein, a known Terra Luna validator. The validators haven’t responded to a comment request by DailyCoin nor replied to the thread on X.

On the Flipside

  • The Six Samurai Signaling Proposal is not a spending proposal, nor does it attempt to replace L1JTF.
  • Ultimately, this means that the engineering work by the Samurai Team won’t be paid for their work if approved.

Why This Matters

Terra Classic chain restoration efforts are led by an active community that aims to make decisions democratically via proposals.
