Bull Runners argue that Swift’s long-running ISO 20022 transition has largely already happened — and that the part now facing delays is far less glamorous, but potentially more consequential: banks’ customer data.
The YouTube video points to a Swift “Call to Action for November 2026” page stating that, after November 14, 2026, unstructured postal addresses will no longer be accepted in payment messages.

Banks would need to use fully structured or hybrid addresses instead.
The migration problem is inside the data
According to Bull Runners, Swift later published an August notice acknowledging that “large parts of the industry across all regions” were still unable to meet the structured-address requirement. Several banking communities and domestic payment-market infrastructures reportedly sought more time.
Swift accepted a controlled extension but did not publish a replacement deadline for payment-message changes. Instead, it said it would consult banks, central banks, market infrastructures and corporate users, with an update due by December at the latest.
The distinction matters. A payment can be sent in the ISO 20022 format while still carrying an old-style free-text address — a single field containing a customer’s building number, street, city and country.
Structured data separates those elements into machine-readable fields, reducing the need for banks to interpret information differently at each stage of a correspondent-banking chain.
ISO 20022 did not trigger the repricing many expected
Bull Runners cite Swift’s statement that more than 98% of payment instructions are now sent in ISO 20022 format, following the migration from legacy MT messages. It says the MT payment-message transition was completed on November 22, 2025, without an unusual XRP price reaction.
That undercuts a popular crypto narrative that ISO 20022 adoption itself would act as a catalyst for tokens associated with payment infrastructure. The host also challenges the claim that XRP is “ISO 20022 compliant,” noting that ISO 20022 is a financial-messaging standard, not a designation that applies directly to a digital asset.
Ripple’s membership in the ISO 20022 standards body is real, but it still differs from saying XRP itself has a messaging-format certification.
What investors may want to watch next
Swift is expected to set an exact first-quarter 2027 date for securities and trade changes after consultation, while the structured-address timetable is due for an update by December. The YouTube video frames those milestones as more relevant than the original November address deadline.
