Recently, Phantom, the biggest wallet on Solana, has announced one such user-friendly feature. The optional wallet usernames aim to make sending crypto from one user to another simpler than ever.
Phantom’s Usernames Simplify Crypto Transfers
Solana’s Phantom Wallet is getting a boost in usability with its new feature. On Tuesday, September 17, Phantom announced the launch of its usernames, allowing users to create custom identifiers for their wallets.
The rollout of the feature will be optional. Phantom also says the feature will not affect the app’s privacy and security. The username feature will become available in early access to long-time Phantom users. Over the next few days, access will be expanded to all users.
According to Phantom, usernames make sending cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and tokens to friends and partners more intuitive. It will also reduce the likelihood of errors caused by misidentifying long addresses.
Usability Remains Phantom’s Main Focus
User experience remains one of the main roadblocks for more adoption in crypto. Despite the enormous investments, crypto apps struggle to attract users. This is because most crypto apps are seen as complicated, prone to errors, and difficult to use.
Increasingly, crypto companies are recognizing this fact. Solana and Phantom are introducing features that help make using their products easier. For one, Solana boasts that its fast transactions and low fees improve the experience.
Phantom is also introducing user-friendly features. Its simple user interface appeals to new users. Moreover, the app is also available for most popular browsers, as well as Android and iOS app.
On the Flipside
- In May, Phantom Wallet topped the US App Store charts, thanks to a “tap to earn” app game TapSwap on Telegram.
- In May, Phantom acquired Bitski to simplify user onboarding in the browser. Notably, Bitski’s browser extension enables users to create wallets with just their email address, making onboarding much easier.
Why This Matters
By rolling out user-friendly features, crypto apps like Phantom are expanding access to new users, which is key to making crypto applications mainstream.
