According to longtime SHIB ecosystem builder Mazrael.shib, shibariumscan.io is once again accessible after a period of downtime. The catch? It came back stripped of its usual branding and without Shibnames support.
The explorer is also still in the process of re-indexing, which means some data may look incomplete or lag behind real-time activity for a while.
What’s Really Happening?
The outage wasn’t just a simple website glitch. Mazrael noted that Shibarium Layer 2 itself stayed operational, but the network experienced a five-hour outage the previous day.

Getting the chain to properly sign back to Ethereum Layer 1 took roughly nine hours, which temporarily disrupted the bridge. Checkpoint times have since improved and are now running closer to the normal 1.5-hour range.
In short: the chain kept producing blocks, but the public window into those blocks went dark for a stretch.
Workarounds the Community Is Already Using
While the official explorer recovers, users aren’t completely left in the dark. Mazrael pointed people toward Shibwatch as a solid alternative for checking transaction status and resolving Shibnames.
For bridge activity and proof-of-stake operations, ShibWallet is currently the recommended route when the main bridge interface acts up.
It’s the classic Shibarium experience: the network keeps moving, and the community finds another door while the front entrance gets repaired.
Why the Explorer Matters More Than It Should
For most users, a blockchain explorer is just a convenience tool. For developers and active community members, it’s infrastructure. Apps that relied on Shibariumscan for name resolution now need updates. Anyone monitoring token launches, liquidity, or wallet activity has to either wait for full re-indexing or switch tools temporarily.
These kinds of hiccups are common on younger Layer-2 networks, especially ones that still lean heavily on a small group of maintainers.
The fact that the chain itself stayed up is the more important signal. Explorers can be rebuilt. Lost trust in the underlying network is harder to recover.
