Robinhood has switched on cryptocurrency trading for eligible users in the United Kingdom, giving UK customers a new way to access tokens such as Shiba Inu (SHIB) directly inside the app alongside its other brokerage products.
The launch immediately puts a large retail distribution platform into a market that has been steadily tightening rules around consumer crypto access.

For SHIB, it also lands at an awkward moment: network activity is picking up on Shibarium, while the token’s holder count has recently slipped.
A new on-ramp for SHIB arrives in the UK
Industry updates say Robinhood’s UK rollout allows customers to trade cryptocurrencies in-app, adding another mainstream route for speculative memecoins that have historically been concentrated on dedicated exchanges.
For the Shiba Inu coin, it’s not about a single listing—SHIB already trades widely. It’s the friction reduction for new buyers in a major financial hub. Easier access can matter at the margin in retail-driven markets, particularly during short, momentum-heavy cycles.
Shibarium activity spikes, holders edge lower
On-chain data tracked by Shibarium’s explorer shows a sharp rebound in daily transactions, with activity hitting a one-month high on August 9. The network processed 4,480 transactions that day, representing a steep jump from recent baseline levels.
At the same time, blockchain data indicates SHIB’s holder count has dipped by 691 addresses over roughly six days after briefly pushing above 1.67 million earlier this month. That kind of decline is small relative to the overall base, but it can signal cooling retail participation—especially if it persists alongside choppy price action.
The mixed picture leaves traders trying to separate genuine ecosystem usage from short-lived bursts of memecoin interest. If Shibarium’s uptick reflects sustained demand for block space—rather than a one-off spike—it could strengthen the case for SHIB’s broader utility narrative. If not, the UK expansion may simply provide a fresh venue for the same speculative flows.
