Reddit is one of the main venues for crypto discussion. The platform announced on October 28 that it is introducing two distinct homepage feeds, “For You” and “Following,” changing the way how users discover communities and discussions.

The update could affect how Bitcoin, altcoin, and decentralized finance (DeFi) communities reach new audiences.

How Do Reddit’s New Feeds Work?

The redesign separates community discovery from content users already follow. According to Reddit’s official announcement, it makes it easier for users to find communities they might like while giving them more control over what shows up on their homepage.

“For You” mixes posts from communities a user has joined with recommended posts from communities they have not yet joined, selected based on their interests.

“Following” shows only posts from communities the user is already a member of, with no outside content.

Users can switch freely between the two, and Reddit says the platform will remember which feed was last used.

Recommendations from unsubscribed communities, which Reddit has long included in the home feed, now sit in their own dedicated section instead of being mixed into the main feed.

The company says the rollout will reach users globally over the coming weeks. The feeds are already visible to some users on desktop and mobile.

Reddit’s Stated Rationale and User Reaction

Reddit describes the update as a first step toward helping users discover relevant content and connect with new communities. The company has been moving away from a single universal front page.

CEO Steve Huffman signaled a shift away from r/popular in late 2025, and Reddit deprecated r/all in April 2026, redirecting those links to the personalized Home feed.

However, Reddit users’ early reactions to the announcement have been mixed. Some users see a clearer separation between recommendations and followed communities. Others say Reddit now defaults to algorithmic recommendations, reducing their perceived control over the feed.

Reddit went public on the New York Stock Exchange in March 2024 under the ticker RDDT.

Why This Matters

Reddit is a major hub for crypto discussions, so changes to how users discover content could influence which crypto projects retail investors notice and discuss. The new recommendation feed could affect how widely these discussions reach users.
