Maple Finance’s SYRUP token jumped 22% on Friday, making it one of the day’s top-performing cryptocurrencies. The rally was triggered by a combination of strong fundamentals, bullish tokenomics, and a high-profile listing on South Korea’s leading exchange, Upbit.

SYRUP Debuts on Upbit Exchange

The rally follows SYRUP’s debut on Upbit, South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, where it was listed across KRW, BTC, and USDT pairs.

The listing immediately boosted visibility and liquidity, propelling the token to a 30-day high of $0.61.

Trading volume exploded by over 360%, approaching $900 million in 24 hours, a sharp contrast to the 1.12% dip in overall crypto market capitalization.

Strong Quarterly Performance

The price breakout was further reinforced by a strong second-quarter performance. Earlier this week, Maple Finance reported that syrupUSD, its stablecoin product, contributed to a 460% quarter-over-quarter increase in Maple’s assets under management (AUM) to $1.87 billion.

Total AUM across Maple’s platform has now reached $3.2 billion, with the firm targeting $5 billion by year-end.

Institutional demand continues to rise, particularly in the platform’s Bitcoin Yield product, which has attracted over $180 million in capital and yields 5.2%.

Token Buyback Plans

In parallel, Maple Finance introduced proposal MIP-018, which seeks to raise the protocol’s token buyback allocation from 20% to 25% of revenue.

If approved, the buybacks would begin in Q3 2025, with repurchased SYRUP tokens distributed as staking rewards. The community vote on the proposal is underway today.

On-chain activity also supports the bullish trend. Whale wallets have been steadily accumulating SYRUP, while exchange balances have declined, suggesting reduced selling pressure and tightening supply.

Why This Matters

SYRUP’s breakout signals growing investor confidence in Maple Finance’s vision and the resilience of DeFi amid a challenging crypto market.
