Meta Keeping Its Metaverse Promise: Zuckerberg Says Instagram May Get NFTs Soon

In November 2021, Facebook Inc. exploded into the crypto space with its exciting plans for a brand new metaverse and the unexpected rebrand to ‘Meta‘. With these announcements, Mark Zuckerberg managed to propel a number of metaverse cryptocurrencies to new heights in the same way Elon Musk had with memecoins half a year earlier.  

Since then, Meta has continued to remind the industry about the imminent arrival of non-fungible tokens to its social media platforms. Recently, company CEO Mark Zuckerberg talked about Instagram’s future at the SXSW Conference, where he remarked: “We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term.” On the other hand, he was reluctant to provide the exact details of the upcoming plans.
