Illuvium, the blockchain gaming platform, has rolled out Staking V3 on the Base network in one of its most significant upgrades to date.

The move is designed to cut transaction costs, speed up staking operations, and deliver a smoother experience for users.

By tapping into Base’s lower fees and higher throughput, Illuvium is aiming to make staking more accessible while positioning its ecosystem for long-term expansion.

Dual Rewards Drive New Incentives

The new staking version introduces a dual-reward model designed to elevate participation and long-term engagement.

ILV token rewards now flow through a revenue-sharing mechanism that activates once Illuvium hits a preset earnings threshold. Alongside these payouts, users earn Shards or seasonal loyalty points calculated by stake size, vault selection, lock duration, and historical involvement.

Stakers can choose between two vaults: a straightforward ILV vault or a combined ILV/ETH vault, each offering different Shard yields.

Participants can stake in either an ILV-only vault or an ILV/ETH vault, each delivering different Shard yields. Additional multipliers tied to lock periods of 30 to 365 days, paired with OG boosts for legacy stakers from earlier versions, can lift total Shard earnings up to threefold.

Seasons and Seamless Migration

The staking program operates in six-month seasons, with weekly declines in Shard emissions encouraging early entry. Season One will distribute 15% of the total Shard supply, creating structured scarcity and clear incentive windows for players and investors.

To streamline onboarding, Illuvium has introduced a LayerZero-powered ILV bridge, allowing holders to migrate tokens from Ethereum to Base without friction.

The upgrade is designed to benefit both long-term holders, who can maximize rewards by locking their assets, and newcomers, who can stake with minimal costs and faster transaction times.

Why This Matters

This upgrade positions Illuvium as a more scalable and user-friendly Web3 gaming ecosystem, incentivizing both long-term commitment and broader participation in its staking program.
