FC Barcelona Plans to Enter the Metaverse and Launch NFTs 

FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta is looking for new ways to generate profits for the club and create new possibilities for the fan base. 

Spanish soccer club FC Barcelona is working to launch an NFT collection and is seeking to engage with fans in the metaverse, currently dubbed the ‘Barca Metaverse’. Club president Joan Laporta is looking for new ways to generate profit and create new possibilities for team’s passionate the fan base.

Laporta also revealed that Barca is planning to launch its own cryptocurrency and, with blockchain technology, the club will doubtless be able to create many unforgettable benefits for the club’s 300 million fans around the globe. Barcelona is also embracing virtual and augmented reality to provide viewers with the best possible match experience.

“We are innovative in the use and adaptation of technologies and we will continue to be so. In recent times there has been a lot of attention to blockchain products and services such as NFTs and metaverse … We should be able to offer digital products to our members, our fans that will align with the value of the club and generate a very interesting emotional experience,”
