Digital disruption has been taking the lives of human kind by storm in the past decade. The line between the physical and digital worlds is fading faster every year, with new metaverses springing up like mushrooms. Online shopping is more popular than ever, social media changed the way people communicate with their loved ones, and the pandemic accelerated cardinal changes in the way people work.
DecentWorld, a Swiss-owned metaverse based on the blockchain, is a major pioneer in technological developments, working to change how people interact, co-create and operate in the future. Blurring the lines between the physical and digital, DecentWorld provides users with the exceptional opportunity to explore cities and their architecture in a new, exciting way.

From Physical to Digital

Although most metaverse products typically focus on creating virtual fantasy worlds, the DecentWorld creative team took a more unconventional approach. Rather than designing non-existent environments, the team decided to bet on the aspects of familiarity and recognition to foster user enjoyment.

“Imagine walking through the metaverse and experiencing everything as if you were there in real-time. This is exactly what the creative team at DecentWorld is striving towards: the ability to teleport a user to the other side of the world, which, although digital, feels and looks just like the interpretation of the real thing,” the team explains.

The design is based on a meticulous analysis of thousands of online images in order to realistically interpret how Dubai looks in real life. Additionally, the team took an exciting step and included buildings which have not yet been built, but are expected to be finished in 2023. This provides the DecentWorld users with the exceptional opportunity to experience a one-of-a-kind preview of how the city will look in the near future.

Merely a Starting Point

Apart from its recently released features, the DecentWorld team is planning to expand its metaverse by creating additional 3D environments and adding different games for an even bigger entertainment experience. With that, the team plans to onboard forward-thinking businesses for an easy metaverse access, as well as integrate other daily experiences that might otherwise be only available in real life.

“We think that attending a movie premiere or an entire movie festival on metaverse, free of charge, without needing to subscribe to any services is an achievable goal. Many popular artists have already had their first metaverse performances, and they were hugely successful. We want to bring this experience ever further by adding more possibilities to our users”, the team elaborates.

Easy Access as Priority

DecentWorld team made the conscious decision to release the platform on desktop, allowing access to the metaverse through their computers, but also soon plans to give users the ability to enter the 3D world with VR headsets.

“We wanted to be inclusive by allowing anyone to join our metaverse, regardless of what kind of equipment they possess at home. As we know, the hardware still needs to catch up before people can experience the metaverse at its full potential.

In the future, I am sure that VR glasses will let players not only see the virtual world around them, but also smell and feel everything as if they are really there,” shares Audrius, one of DecentWorld’s product owners.

Although more and more companies are investing in the metaverse, it is becoming increasingly clear that the hardware available still has a long way to go if it has any chance of catching up to all of the recent advances. However, when this happens, it will surely serve to catalyze great financial and technological developments in the industry.
