Binance Scores a Deal with TikTok Star Khaby Lame

‘Keep it simple’, says the Crypto Captain Obvious

In these uncertain times for crypto, anyone able to bring some degree of clarity is welcomed to the space with open arms. The biggest star on social media at the current time, Khaby Lame, could be be the ‘crypto Captain Obvious’ that everyone has been waiting for, as the half Italian, half Senegalese comedian scored a big deal with Binance.

Explaining Crypto in a Fun Way

One of the main reasons Binance chose Khaby Lame to be the face of their brand on TikTok is that the comedian started on his road to stardom by mocking “life hack” videos.

His first featured video in partnership with Binancefeatures a woman looking for a way to “start the Web 3.0 journey”, but clearly having problems with it; the search query on her laptop screen reads “wtfff iz web3?”. Then, Binanceman (The Binance Superhero) steps in and saves the day by simply taking the woman’s laptop and entering Binance’s web address. “Keep it simple”, Binanceman says.

A Binance spokesperson expressed the company’s belief that Khaby Lame will help spread the word about crypto and Web 3.0 to an audience that doesn’t necessarily want to read long articles or take complex, time-consuming courses. Ironically enough, the top TikTok influencer rarely speaks in his videos, so it will be exciting to see how Khaby Lame tries to explain blockchains, NFTs and DeFi apps using minimal words. When asked about the deal, Lame commented: “I’ve been curious about web3 for some time, and jumped at the chance to partner with a leader like Binance because it aligns perfectly with what I usually do: make complex stuff easy and fun for everyone!” Indeed, his audience is certainly large to say the least—with 145 million followers on TikTok, and a further 75 million on Instagram.

More Celebrities Partner With Crypto

Despite the ongoing macroeconomic downturn, Binance has not only retained its entire  workforce, unlike peers such as Coinbase and Gemini, but has also expanded it, opening a variety of new positions. Although Bitcoin’s (BTC) price is still floundering at $19,000, Binance still managed to score a deal with Cristiano Ronaldo just one week ago. The legendary soccer player is “ready to change the NFT game”, and has expressed his eagerness to release his sports history NFTs.
