Binance Pay can now be used by foreign tourists to make cryptocurrency payments at more than 10 million PayPay-affiliated merchants across Japan, Binance announced on September 30. The service is available to eligible Binance users visiting Japan.
The integration, available since September 30, gives Binance users another option for spending cryptocurrency while traveling. Binance says its overseas user base includes roughly 48 million Pay users.

Visitors can scan a QR code at participating PayPay merchants or present a payment code generated in the Binance Pay app, with payments processed through the HIVEX cross-border payment network and merchants receiving settlement in Japanese yen.
Binance Pay Expands Crypto Payments for Japan Travelers
The new option covers spending at participating restaurants, shops and accommodation providers. Binance says users can pay directly from their cryptocurrency balance.
As a result, users do not need to separately convert their cryptocurrency into Japanese yen before making a payment. The payment infrastructure handles the cross-border transaction, while merchants continue to use the PayPay payment system.
The integration links PayPay’s merchant network with Binance Pay’s international user base.
Thomas Gregory, Binance’s vice president of Payments & Fiat, said Japan could provide an example of how cashless payments and digital assets can be used together across borders. He described the PayPay integration as part of Binance’s effort to expand payment options for travelers and services for merchants serving international customers.
The campaign is restricted to qualifying users. Binance says the eligibility requirements and promotion period are available through its official campaign page and in-app announcements.
The launch follows PayPay’s broader expansion of HIVEX integrations. PayPay’s merchant information lists several overseas QR payment services already connected to the network, including UnionPay App, WeChat Pay and services from Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Binance Expands QR Payments Across Asia
The launch builds on Binance Pay’s existing QR payment integrations in several Asian travel markets. These integrations allow Binance Pay users to make payments through local QR payment networks in participating markets.
The Japan integration connects Binance Pay with PayPay’s merchant payment network, allowing eligible travelers to use cryptocurrency for payments at participating merchants while merchants receive settlement in Japanese yen.
Why This Matters
The integration gives eligible foreign visitors a way to spend cryptocurrency at PayPay-affiliated merchants in Japan without separately converting crypto into yen. It also connects Binance Pay to an established Japanese QR-payment network, extending its use beyond Binance’s own ecosystem.
